Seven months passed since the amputation.
My life is back to normal. I stopped seeing the doctors and returned to work quite long ago. The pains are gone, the only time the finger hurts is when the fingernail claw catches some lose threads in the clothes.
Did I mention I can now finally zip my pants on my own? Oh, that was a great achievement! Since I button up the fly with my left hand, that’s a challenging task to do with left thumb barely usable.
But with this celebration of getting back to normal comes despair. The finger is not regrowing. It is as short as it was on day one. The miracle just didn’t happen.
When you’re can’t get default, it is at times very hard to be strong.
