While searching for an iPad case, I came across a news article claiming iPad covers may actually lead to amputation.
The incident happened in 2010 near Denver’s Cherry Creek. Bill Jordan, aged 59, was leaving the mall with his brand-new iPad in a case. Brandon Smith, a 22 y.o. drug addict, ran up to him and pulled the gadget several times until it got loose. Too bad the case was strapped around victim’s wrist, and
the attacker pulled so hard that the wrist strap peeled skin off Bill Jordan’s pinky. The doctors had to amputate the damaged finger to prevent infection.
Brandon Smith was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
After reading that, I opted for a silicone iPad case to be on the safe side.
